Position Summary:



Responsible for assisting and supporting the Goodwill of Mississippi’s BookWorks Program. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the local BookWorks program in their assigned area. The Area Coordinator is responsible for promoting the BookWorks mission and the logistics of the program at their host site(s) and community. This independent thinker must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to meet the broad instructions from management to fully meet programmatic goals for assigned area.



Primary Duties:



  1. Deliver support, plan and schedule volunteer initiatives, events, and activities with the intent of increasing awareness through education and relationship building, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external customers in the assigned area.

  2. Promote the local BookWorks program and distribute services to manage a consistent delivery of materials (books) and services (read to manage) demonstrating the importance of the BookWorks program.

  3. Inventory levels to expeditiously respond to the needs of orders from participants, direct local program volunteers, and additional inventory when needed.

  4. In coordination with the Manager of BookWorks, including the acquisition of budgets, seek programmatic opportunities to support the objectives of the volunteer-driven program.

  5. Responsible for managing event timelines and working within budget; meet with the BookWorks manager to assist the BookWorks manager with grant or other local area funding opportunities.

  6. Serve as a liaison to the local store manager, program team members, internal stakeholders, volunteers and community program service recipients.

Education, Licenses and Certifications:



  • Associate’s degree in education, career counseling, or closely related field preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in education, publications, marketing, recruiting, assigning and supervising volunteers, or equivalent combination of education and experience.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for adapting presentations to multiple audiences through proficiency of various electronic platforms and support volunteers and program participants being served from a diverse background.

  2. Strong organizational skills and team to facilitate communication, data collection, entry and data analysis for reporting and program planning.

  3. Proficient math and computer skills to include developing and adapting error-free spreadsheets and helpful documents using MS Office.

  4. Demonstrate initiative, organizational ability, and attention to detail in developing creative minimal supervision.

  5. Use of practical office equipment, including but not limited to: computer, camera, cell phone, calculator, copier, printer, scanner, data projector and remote meeting services for webinars and outreach success.

  6. Coordinate volunteer activities for the BookWorks Program. Provide screening, communication, intake according to standards set by BookWorks manager.

  7. Work with local partners to ensure that host site staff, volunteers and recipients of program services meet standards of appearance and attitude. Ways of performing in a manner that promotes the BookWorks mission.

  8. Assist the BookWorks manager to develop measurement, growth plans and ideas to expand community members served to meet and exceed annual projections.

  3. Promotes and works to meet the team and individual goals.

  4. Possess the ability to read and comprehend all ACRE, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.

  5. Ability to pass a (motor vehicle screen) and criminal background check.

  6. Possess a valid state driver’s license, and vehicle liability insurance; maintaining an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements:



  1. Work in an environment that may involve occasional high stress and short deadlines, potentially requiring overtime.

  2. Stand and walk for most of the workday.

  3. Routinely bend, stoop, pull, push, reach, kneel, twist, and turn throughout the day.

  4. Lift at least 15 pounds in an office or worksite environment with or without assistance using a safe lift-practice.




Travel:



  • Frequent travel required, primarily in assigned Goodwill BookWorks service area. Routinely travels to local business locations and must be flexible to travel overnight for training/business purposes.




Other:



  • Avoids potential conflicts of interest and maintains confidentiality of all company information and proprietary materials.
